Horsfields, Hermanns and Mediterranean Spur Thigh tortoises can go into the garden on dry warm sunny days but should be enclosed for their own safety in an enclosure similar to a rabbit run. They should be offered protection from strong sunlight. At night time they can simply be placed in a cardboard box lined with newspaper and cover them with rabbit hay. This box should then be placed in a cool building overnight i.e. a garden shed.
